Well, I haven’t posted anything for February yet. I’ve been completely swamped with schoolwork, work, and more work, so I’ve barely had any free time for extra drawing. Last term my marks weren’t as good as they could have been, so this time around I’m really trying to step it up and finish things on time and to the best of my abilities. (:
I also ended up doing a portrait of my cousins for my uncle to give to my aunt for her birthday, which he ended up paying me $100 for! Ballin’! And I have a lot more work to put into the Students For Justice website, and come up with new designs for t-shirts. So, I have to prioritize - as much as I want to keep working on this 365 project of mine, these things come first. During reading week I’m thinking I may do 5 a day or something to catch up.
I’ve spent about 8 hours doing homework today and there’s still so much to do - I have one more page of my popup book to do, gotta finish up a painting assignment, an assignment for life drawing, and then study for my philosophy test. That’ll get me until Friday, then for the weekend I have to work on transferring the SFJ website to tumblr, I have to finish a new design, and then Monday will come along and I’ll get assigned a million new projects to work on for the week. It really seems like the work load is never going to end.
Also, I’m broke because I rarely have time to work, I only work two shifts a week, but I really shouldn’t ask for more hours than that because I am already struggling to complete assignments on time. I think it’s because I’m a perfectionist, I spend way too much time on each project because I need to get it just right.
But anyways, despite the stress and the crazy workload and the lack of money, I am feeling fantastic! I’m finally starting to have some confidence in myself as an artist, and although I don’t have my future completely planned out, I feel like I still have a lot of options and all of them involve art, so I’m going to be happy with whatever I do. I just needed a little rant to organize my thoughts, and - for those that follow me for my 365 project - explain why there haven’t been any updates, haha.
